XPI Simulation can provide a database design service and the team is able to create any real-time environment as well as any real world scenario.
As XPI Simulation has worked with a variety of customers, the database team has worked on a wide selection of databases including rural and urban scenes. The experience the team has acquired in texturing allows XPI Simulation to create high fidelity models, producing extremely high image quality. Low polygon models are created of real world scenarios, which in turn allows for a higher fidelity database.
XPI Simulation predominantly use Multigen Creator and TERREX software, TerraVista, as well as AutoCad. Using DTED and DFAD, it is possible to collate information and create accurate databases for flight simulation. It is also possible to build models from satellite data, schematics or ordinary photographs. A few examples of databases that XPI Simulation has developed:
- New York Subway, which was in excess of 250 miles and required exceptional image quality
- Airfields
- Aircraft landing
- Pilot training in low visibility scenarios
- Virtual Marshaller for a marshalling simulator
- Variety of aircraft
To help the team of modellers, XPI Simulation has the ability to generate custom tools to aid modelling. An example is the trackgen software used to generate the NYC train database. This allowed 250 miles of geo-specific train track database to be generated in record time.
