Tank
simulation is vital for training drivers as large areas need
to be set aside for live training to take place. A variety of
databases instead allows for the re-creation of a wide range
of locations and allows the practise of night manoeuvres without
waiting for darkness. XPI Simulation provides simulation for
tank gunnery and tank driving.For
individual training such as tank driving, the simulators allow
the students to drive the tank along rough terrain in varying
visibility conditions. For tank gunner training, the simulators
allow the students to practice the acquisition, recognition,
tracking, engagement and destruction of targets.
XPI Simulation offers flexible solutions from
desk top trainers to full mission tank simulators that can be
networked. These systems are HLA compliant, providing interoperability
with other training systems. XPI Simulation also
offers very high detail databases as well as replicating atmospheric
conditions such as fog, sand storms and snow. With reduced visibility,
sensor simulation (thermal and NVG) is also often required.
XPI Simulation is able to replicate these effects with its own
sensor simulation product, SimView.
At XPI Simulation, we have access to a comprehensive library of visual effects essential for accurate tank simulation. These include realistic weapon effects, bow waves, fire and smoke effects and ricochet. The tank sims also replicate vehicle and weapon sounds which further add to the realism.
XPI Simulation won a multi-million dollar contract to supply a Far Eastern
Army with tank driving and tank gunnery trainers. The contract
was for over 100 channels of visual systems and included NVG
simulation.
