Fleet driver improvement through simulation
1st July 2013
MITIE, the FTSE 250 strategic outsourcer, has taken delivery of a new XPI fully mobile car simulator, designed for assessing and educating their fleet of drivers around the UK.
To fulfil the requirements, XPI Simulation worked closely with MITIE in designing several bespoke modifications for the project. MITIE’s clear vision of what they needed to achieve and XPI’s ability to incorporate the key requirements has resulted in a world class simulator solution which will help MITIE further improve the safety of its people and reduce its carbon footprint.
Simon Gray, Fleet Compliance Manager at MITIE, said
“a quality product that we will be proud to show to both our people and our clients. This cutting edge simulator will really improve safety and further reduce our emissions, delivering more cost effective services for our clients: and it’s really fun to use!"
The simulator will be taken around the UK to be used onsite at MITIE and client offices, where Fleet Driver Awareness Trainer, Stefan Szrama, will conduct a varying selection of course scenarios aimed at improving driver safety through better driving, This face to face interaction will also help communicate MITIEs current fleet processes and procedures to their people across the UK.The use of the XPI full car simulator allows MITIE to offer high levels of immersion to the trainees, critical in gaining both driver acceptance and lesson retention. The market leading simulator software provided by XPI Simulation enables highly effective teaching of key areas such as hazard awareness, emergency stopping and eco driving. The software also enables MITIE to identify potential accident risk drivers through use of a Celeration formula developed for this project.MITIE expect the simulator to be integral to the ongoing training of their drivers, key to raising awareness and improving driver safety and also looking after its people better, whilst having a positive knock on benefit to fuel reduction through better driving, and lower insurance premiums because of safer driving.
