From Bicycles to Tanks

The bicycle simulator was recently delivered to Nottingham University's psychology department to study the interaction of cyclists and car drivers in the same synthetic environment.

Alan Davenport of XPI said "Bicycle and motorcycle simulators are probably the most requested items for road safety education so the networked NITES systems at Nottingham provide the ideal research platform."

XPI is also working on designing simulators for multi-axle and tracked vehicles. The LIDAR terrain databases are invaluable for large areas of off-road driving where the uneven terrain needs to be accurately correlated in both the visual scene and the vehicle's motion.
