XP300 is a low cost driving simulator specifically designed
to raise the interest and awareness of road safety issues. It
is an easily transportable desktop system which captures the
attention of 12 to 18 year-olds and improves retention of road
safety lessons. Road safety professionals are encouraged to submit
ideas and requests for specific hazards as part of the continuous
improvement policy.
Alan Davenport, XPI’s marketing director, said “We
receive excellent ideas for new exercises and naturally they
are getting more sophisticated. Being able to show realistic
movement of people and wavering cyclists makes it possible for
pre-drivers to experience some of the more dangerous situations
which would not be possible to prepare for on the road”.
Road safety officers seem to be particularly impressed with
the possibilities of poor visibility: not only for motorway driving
but also around schools and rural roads.
