What is Fabriano?
The product name, Fabriano, recalls the high visual qualities in the paintings of the 14th – 15th
century Italian painter, Gentile da Fabriano. His paintings have become famous for their superb
detail in textures, lighting and color. These same image qualities are desired by today’s
real-time 3D visual systems developers and users, so XPI Simulation chose Fabriano for its
first new product name in its Renaissance family of products. |

Fabriano
is a high performance Image Generator designed by XPI Simulation to meet the demanding needs of the real-time 3D visual
simulation community. As part of the Renaissance family
of products, Fabriano uses the latest PC graphics chipsets
and processors to provide synchronized multi-channel anti-aliased
images at high frame rates. This future-proof architecture
combines up-to-date commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) technology
with custom-designed elements to give a range of fully synchronized,
multi-channel, high resolution, high image quality IGs at
very attractive prices.
Fabriano enables XPI Simulation to periodically adapt the most current and
appropriate COTS technologies to meet customers’ requirements; an adaptation
requiring only very short lead times. Fabriano offers a number of special effects
including fog, rain, marine effects, large database management and explosion effects
such as smoke, fire and flames. Fabriano supports all training applications and requires
no specialist training or costly first-line support.
