Direct Fire Trainer

Photo realistic background taken from the HVM training system.

Direct fire training is all about the relationship between hand and eye skills and observation. The ability to accurately direct a weapon to a target and produce a battlefield effect is the result of repeated practice. Direct fire training via simulators requires exact visual accuracy covering not just the terrain but also the target models and environmental model.

The XPI Simulation WeSTT family of Direct Fire Trainers has contributed to a 100% success rate during live firing by the British Army since their introduction. The WeSTT part-task trainer allows students to develop their accuracy skills with unlimited simulated firings. The WeSTT trainers include identical hand controllers to those used for maximum realism. Soldiers are then presented with accurate control sequences for selecting and arming the weapon followed by a wide variety of high fidelity visual engagement scenarios against a variety of targets.
