ISS Video Capture and Display Card

The ISS board is a general purpose video capture and replay card for recording and displaying video from a camera or other live video source.

The board is designed around the LSI Logic JPEG compression / de-compression chip. A dual path processing architecture uses two such devices, one for record and one for replay.

A quad ported SDRAM memory provides:

  • input buffer for storing input data sequences
  • archive data to a SCSI based storage device such as a hard drive or DAT tape.
  • data to the PC via the PCI interface for local video processing
  • output buffer to supply the output video stream.

The system is controlled by an onboard ST20450 Transputer based processor. This processor controls the DMA channels, attached SCSI devices and performs the general housekeeping.

The analogue video data, input and output, is mixed with annotation data.

General Features:

  • PCI Interface
  • Dual JPEG compressor / decompressor
  • OnBoard ST20450 Processor
