P10+ Dual DSP Video Processing Board
P10+ was a general purpose, low cost, PC-based video processing system based around the Texas Instruments TMS320C80 DSP.
Initially targeted at the graphics market it provided a level of graphics performance not previously available from desk top PCs and because of its programmability, still provides specific video features not present in today’s graphics hardware devices. It has applications in simulation, training, virtual reality and entertainment.
Dual DSP Architecture
At the core of the hardware are dual Texas Instruments 320C80 DSP processors interfaced to a dual ported general purpose memory and a double buffered video memory.
Each processor runs independently and has a local 16 Mbyte L2 cache for program and data storage. The processors are interfaced to main memory and video memory through a unique proprietary arbitration hardware scheme.
General purpose memory is configurable up to 256 Mbyte of SDRAM with video memory options of 4 or 8 Mbytes. Optimum performance is achieved using dual 64 bit wide internal data buses.
